The Revolutionary Film Project

In the Spring of 2002, Rob took his first overseas missions trip... a trip that would radically change his life. There he met Christians who suffered persecution at the hands of the Communist government in that country. He interviewed some of those Christians and got their stories. Press the play button in the window below to hear one such story:

Upon returning to Dallas, the stories continued to haunt him. He knew he had to recreate at least one of them. He got some friends together and re-enacted the story in a field behind his apartment complex.

The images at the top of this page are from that shoot. But why are they included on this site? In an age where religious fanatics are killing in the name of God, isn't it kind of a dangerous thing to show those kinds of images on a website dedicated to the production of Christian film?

The founders of The Revolutionary Film Project wish to make a point. Throughout history there have been many revolutions led by all sorts of revolutionaries. But most revolutions are won by force of arms and bloodshed. However, the greatest revolution of all time was won by the greatest revolutionary of all time, Jesus Christ... who shed only His own blood to gain the victory.

Every revolution needs a revolutionary to lead it.

In Rob's travels around the world, he has seen a strange fascination with the person of Che Guevara.

"It's not just here in America, it's everywhere. I've seen Che Guevare T-shirts like the one Carlos Santana wore to the 2005 Oscars on sale in China, Albania, Greece, Kazakhstan, Spain... all over the world. I've seen teenagers sporting Che berets. It's like a sick fad.

But these people don't have a clue as to what Che represented. A recent book on his life calls him "a cold-blooded killing machine.'

Yes, he was a revolutionary. So everyone who is sick of the "system" in their country holds him up as some kind of icon for change. But they have no idea what it truly was that he stood for and did.

The man was a greedy, power hungry murderer who tortured and brutally killed hundreds of people. And Christians were one of his favorite targets."

Rob had interviewed many who suffered under his reign of terror. Why would people idolize such a man? Why would they wear shirts with his image emblazoned on it?

An article in the Dallas Morning News stated, " It is customary for followers of a cult not to know the real-life story of their hero, the historical truth. It is not surprising that Mr. Guevara's contemporary followers, his new post-communist admirers, also delude themselves by clinging to a myth – a myth firing up people whose causes for the most part represent the exact opposite of what Mr. Guevara was. Rob began to compare who Che Guevara was to who Jesus was. Both were revolutionaries. Both brought a revolution to the nations they came to "liberate." There is no comparison, but it's sad to say that you see very few images of Jesus on the T-shirts celebrities wear to the Oscars. You don't see Jesus' face all over the mall adorning mugs and posters.

Jesus was the greatest revolutionary of all time! A man who lived what He taught. A man who loved everyone, judged no one, hurt no one, healed everyone He came into contact with. A man who laid down His life so that we all might have the victory. A man who came to topple the "system" and usher in a Kingdom where everyone was equal and everyone could prosper. It's time we show this Revolutionary the honor, respect and adoration He deserves.

The Revolutionary Film Project was founded on the idea of doing just that. We're taking the Great Commision of Jesus Christ literally. He started a revolution that He commanded us to continue. And it is our passionate desire to do just that through film, video and multimedia.

The Revolutionary Film Project hopes to produce movies that will challenge and inspire people in their walk with Jesus Christ. Telling stories like the one in the clip above is just one way to do that - because seeing how other people worship God in spite of intense persecution has a way of humbling you and challenging you to do more.

LONG LIVE THE SOZO REVOLUTION!
